First Baptist Church of Buford

Our New Church Family
As many of you know the Lord has called Eric to serve at FBC Buford as the Children's Pastor (Preschool - 5th grade) and we could not be more excited! What a wonderful church family. They have welcomed us with open arms. As you can see Eric has already made friends. The two girls below, Bell and Ashley they call Eric, Mr. Man. We are not sure how they came up with it, but they love to call him it. We had a wonderful Easter service with 1200 attending our church. Eric was able to spend all morning doing Preschool worship and he is not sure he is cut out for preschool. I told him, he better get used it with the possibility of a baby in the future. Eric has his work cut out for him, please pray for him as he embarks on his new adventure and finishes seminary!

Last day with Tishman Speyer

My Last Day with Tishman Speyer
February 15th was my last day with Tishman Speyer. I had a great year and half with the company. I made alot of friends and learned a ton about the commercial real estate industry. Below you will see pictures of my going away party @ Maggiano's (one of my favorite restuarants). Thank you Jim and the Atlanta team for a wonderful experience!

We went to Minnesota over New Years to visit Eric's family and had a great time. Above are pictures of our excursion "up north." We went to Matt & Christina's wedding and then headed to Lutsen, MN which is on Lake Superior (30minutes from Cananda). We saw lots of snow, went sledding, watched college bowl games, shopped, hung out with family, played games, ate and ate some more....thanks to Gerald's cooking. Then we headed to Minneapolis, went to Mall of America and stayed the night with Aunt Jane and Uncle Dan, great hospitable people. We had a wonderful time!

Eric & Amanda are engaged!

This past weekend my little brother proposed to Amanda Dodson! I must say he had a very creative way to propose. As most of you know Eric loves to be on the river, fish, canoe, kayak, etc... He thought of an excuse to get Amanda home from VA Tech for the weekend. He took her to the river like any other day. Let me back up to say that my dad has a friend that does sky writing so a couple of months ago dad and Eric came up with the idea that when he got engaged to have Mark fly over and write "Marry Me" in the sky and that is exactly what happened. Amanda said yes......and now we will be haivng a fall wedding in 2008! I am very excited for the both of them. My brother could not have gotten a better girl! We love Amanda and are so excited she will be a Bohler! Congratulations to you both!!!

Fall Update

Life has gotten incredibly busy for both Eric and I this fall, especially Eric. Eric has been asked to be the Family Life Pastor (Children, Youth & Rec). He is taking 17 hours this semester and attempting to finish school in May! I am still working with Tishman Speyer and have jumped more into a Leasing role.

We have made the decision to adopt and have submitted our paperwork. Please pray with us for the child God has for us. Many of you may be wondering what type of adoption we have chosen....we chose to adopt domestically (Liberty Godparent Home). Liberty Godparent Home & Family Life Services are an extension of Liberty University and a wonderful Christian adoption agency. The reason why it is called the Godparent Home is because during the birthmother's pregnancy they are able to live there, take classes, learn how to take care of bodies during pregnancy, hear the gospel, and they make the decision as to if they are going to give their child up for adoption or not. The adoptive parents make an album (to me it's more like a scrapbook) about themselves and the birthmothers are able to look through the albums and choose who they want to be the parents of their child. We have friends at church that have adopted through the Godparent Home and recieved their children when they were 2 weeks old, and now they are a 4-year old girl and 5-month old boy. We are extremely excited and nervous at the same time. We still have to do the Homestudy and have to go to Adoption Weekend Workshop at Liberty. Adoption is very costly. Eric and I are saving all our pennies and applying for any grants. I know the Lord will provide!

I love the mission statement of Liberty Godparent Home & Family Life Services, see below.......

The mission of Family Life Services is to protect and enhance human life through placement of domestic infants into loving Christian adoptive families. The counseling and placement services of the ministry shall reflect the Love of God through promoting adoption as an alternative for unplanned pregnancies and providing support, assistance and education for birth parents making an adoption plan; providing home studies for families desiring to adopt children domestically or internationally; providing post-placement adoption supervision; and leading children to our Lord Jesus Christ through adoption placement in approved, Christian adoptive families.

Thank you for your prayers & support. We will keep updating the blog as things progress.
